Colour - the lithium on the crystal is responsible for the colour. Lithium can change the colour of quartz crystal to appear a dull pink and light brown and in some cases a little red.
The crystals themselves are not exactly rare in natural, but in the retail world they can be hard to find. The crystal is not one of the most sought after, its much more popular with the accomplished crystal healer, than the general public.
