The Tao, Dao, or as its most commonly known the “Yin Yang”. The central truth of Taoism; that all things are created with opposing forces that exist together in harmony. The key point being, that existence is the result of such harmony and that living with that harmony in mind and heart, increases ones existence and quality of life. Harmony through balance, understanding, and allowance. 

Expressions of the Tao include: Hard and Soft, Active and Passive, Masculine and feminine, conscious and subconscious, positive and negative force, Action and inaction, All are required in balance. 

Note: Good and Evil are NOT expressions of the two opposing forces of the tao, evil in Taoist terms is the absence of harmony, the result of extreme behaviour, of not living with the tao.
