The heptagram represents the original 7 holy planets, thats how many the old mystics of the middle ages thought there was. The heptagram is also associated with the central point in the kabalah, the heart and associated to the heart chakra. A slight difference being that the star image is made only made when we shine. Shine with all that we are, when all our points are joined and all our energy is flowing. This is what gave rise to the idea of the lucky number 7, seven being a holy or lucky number as when it appears it is a symbol of universal harmony at work. The description that comes with the pendant states it protects against hidden enemies - this would be true as enemies don't attack a shinning star drawing from universal energy. An attack would be a contradiction of the process at hand - unity!.
