Scarab Amulet - Protection & Courage
To the Egyptians the Sun was both Life and Death. The Egyptians revered the Scarab as it could continue to survive when the sun was at its most unfavorable, even when death came in the form of a drought the scarab continued. Therefore the Scarab became the symbol of sustaining life, even through death it self - thats why the scarab is present on every sarcophagus, to protect the person through death into the next life. In addition, the scarab was worn as an amulet to protect the living wearer and to retain their life force. The amulet is shown with the beetle holding onto a red crystal, the colour of life.
