
The winged sun is symbolic of the eternal soul, our spiritual energy set free in a state of enlightenment. Often seen in Egypt above temple doors where it served as a reminder to the people of their eternal nature and to set the tone for their purpose in attending the temple.
In Ancient Egypt, the symbol is associated to the Old Kingdom (Sneferu, 26th century BC), and sometimes called the symbol of Sneferu Ra, its often flanked on either side with a uraeus (the snake). In early Egyptian religion, the symbol represented Horus of Edfu
