To continue offering protection and guidance, the Ojibwe people started creating dream catchers. These objects were made from natural materials such as willow hoops and sinew. The shape of the dream catcher is symbolic, resembling a spider's web, which is the dwelling place of Spider Woman.

The traditional dream catcher consists of a round hoop, usually made from a bendable branch of willow, and a woven net or web within the hoop. The netting is believed to capture bad dreams and negative energies, allowing only positive dreams and visions to pass through. The good dreams then slide down the feathers hanging from the bottom of the dream catcher and gently reach the dreamer.
