Galena, primary ore mineral of lead. Mined for its lead content as early as 3000 BC, it is found in ore veins with sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, fahlore etc. The crystals are bright when fresh but often receive a dull tarnish after exposure to air. Although a heavy mineral, it can be very brittle. Its colour is lead grey. It can appear as flakes, although better formations can be striking, forming cubes.

Movie Note: The same mineral in crystal form, was used in the film, Avatar... and was called "unobtainium", not to be confused with rareium, hardtofindulite, or ridiculite all of which do not exist.
