Orange River Quartz gets it name from its home river in South Africa. The colour comes from inclusions of iron and hematite, and forms on occasion red phantom quartz, sometimes the points will manifest as sceptres, and can include record. These characteristics taken together provide the crystal with properties that enhance the intellect and intuition whilst providing vitality, the physical body. This makes the crystal suitable for those that find it difficult to stay awake in meditation, as well as those that to focus their minds to a task in the midst of magical work.
Orange River Quartz are quite rare, and somewhat recent crystal to arrive in the UK. They are mined from areas of the Orange River in the Northern Cape of South Africa and Namibia, through to the Drakenberg Mountains. Its colours can vary from orange, red, pale pink, golden and brown.
