Epidot Physical Properties
Epidot occurs as prismatic crystals, that are often striated, it also forms thick, tabular and acicular crystals. Epidot other habits are fibrous, granular and massive. Forms in metamorphic and igneous rocks. It colours are yellow-green, green, green-brown, green-black or black. The streak is colourless or grey. It is transparent to opaque with a vitreous lustre. Group SILICATES, Composition Ca2(Al,Fe)3(SiO4)3(OH), Hardness 6.0-7.0, Crystal structure MONOCLINIC.
