Crystal Meaning

Dumortierite Physical Properties
Dumortierite rarely forms crystals but when it does they are prismatic and twinned. It is best known in its massive form but can also form radiating, columnar of fibrous habits. Dumortierite is also found intergrown with quartz and called dumortierite quartz. Its colour varies and may be blue, violet, pink, brown and red. It is transparent to translucent with a dull to vitreous lustre and its streak is white. Group SILICATES, Chemical Composition Al2(BO3)(SiO4)3(O)3, Hardness 8.5, Crystal structure ORTHORHOMBIC.
